Hi guys , Im hoping you can help me with this, i was told by an oil burner tech that the code has been modified so you can run an oil furnace and wood or coal stove in one lined chimney. That would be something that would help me very much with heat in my basement I would like to try a coal stove in my basement area approx 1000 square ft. Any recomendations for a basement stove say 50btu rated nothing fancy but could maybe heat some water with at some point.      Thanks  Barry

it would seem that the codes were changed. if the house was built before 1998 you can run 2 appliances into the same flue, if i read that correctly. i would suggest checking out the liesure line stove brand. i have a pocono in my basement and it heats the basement up nicely plus all of the upstairs.

The Pocono is a good basement stove. How much water do you want to heat. There are hot water coils for the stoves and there are boiler if you want to heat with hot water.

No matter what the state law says, my insurance company doesn't allow it.
